Biography

Jianmin Chen  is a PH.D. candidate of Department of Computer science and Engineering, Florida Atlantic University. Currently she is working in wireless ad hoc network and sensor network security area with her advisor  Dr. Jie Wu, committee members Dr.Sam Hsu, Dr.Mihaela Cardei, Dr.Lianfen Qian.

Before she started her PH.D. study in 2002, she got an applied mathematics bachelor degree in Department of Applied Mathematics of Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1988, and an engineering master degree in Institute of Vibration. Shock & Noise, SJTU of  School of Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong university in 1992, and computer science and engineering master degree from Florida Atlantic University in Dec.1998.

She worked as a teacher in Steering Committee for Students’ Affairs at Shanghai Jiaotong University from 1998-1999, later after she graduated with a master degree, she started to work as a research engineer and programmer at Institute of Acoustic Academia, Shanghai from 1992 to 1994, she worked as a software engineering in Shanghai Seiyu Information Technology Co., Ltd from 1994 to 1996. She worked full-time intern at Absolutely Software Inc three months, and MJA Technologies full time 1 month and Xplanation 1 month, since October 1997 she worked part time intern at Daleen Technologies Inc. at Boca Raton until Dec.1998. She worked full time software engineer at Online Gaming System Co. Ltd from 1998 to 2000, and full time software engineer at Trendium Inc in Sunrise, Florida from Oct.2000 to Sept. 2001. She worked at Motorola, Plantation as FAU intern from 2002 to 2004.

FAU intern, Motorola Inc., Plantation, Florida, Aug.2002-Dec.2004

-             Run integration test on cellular phone before the phone is released to system test team, work closely with the software development teams;

-             Write test cases for some features of the phone, run test cases;

-             Inspect new test case, open defects, verify the defect

-             Unit test, and also all kinds test cases for interaction of several features.

·         Work as a software developer, using Java J2SE, Eclipse, Tomcat, SQL express, mySQL, Junit, Ant, XML, fix all the bugs through the web based restaurant software product.

·         Work closely with project manager and system test team and support team, do unit testing, regression testing, and also some system testing, write document to illustrate the design.

 

Software Engineer, Trendium, Inc., Sunrise, Florida, Oct. 2000 to Sept.2001

-             Oracle database programming, and C++ programming on UNIX platform.

-             Designed and developed one  interface library using C++ to interact with different databases such as Oracle, SQL Server etc.

 

Software Engineer, Online Gaming Systems, LTD., Boca Raton,  Dec. 1998 to Oct. 2000

-             Design and develop database schema, stored procedures and triggers using Microsoft SQL Server.

-             Programmer work using ASP, ADO, VB Script, Java script for internet products internal management. 

-             Customer support for several commercial sites using company products.

-             Optimize and tune stored procedures, code, etc. 

-             Work on Visual C++, COM, and DCOM. Troubleshoot and fix defects in the C++ engine code.

 

FAU Intern, part time, Daleen Technologies  Inc., Boca Raton, Florida  Oct.1997 to Dec.1998

-             Programming using C/C++ for billing system in telecommunications industry. COM server development and testing from Visual Basic client using DCOM technology and MTS. Some Oracle, Informix database development.

-             Work closely with test team on automation test cases using Visual Basic script.

-         Designed web site using C/C++, CGI, ODBC, Microsoft Access, ISAPI and SQL.

-             Developed major Architecture CAD program. 

-             Designed GUI interface and wrote the algorithms using Visual Basic, C++, MFC.

-             Created databases and applications using MS-Access.  Some consultant work at client site.
