Welcome! I am a coastal geographer and PhD candidate in the Department of Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) where my degree will be conferred this Spring 2018. My multidisciplinary research integrates Earth science, human-environmental interactions, GIS, remote sensing, statistical modeling, and monitoring networks to better understand dynamic geographic phenomena such as the current and future impacts of accelerated sea-level rise on natural and human coastal systems. Currently, my dissertation research is funded by the Everglades Foundation and the American Association of Geographers.

I earned my BA with Highest Honors and MA in the Department of Geography at the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa (UHM) where I developed a Monte Carlo simulation technique for mapping coastal inundation uncertainty (Cooper and Chen, 2013; Cooper et al., 2015). After working as a research assistant at the Hawai`i Coastal Geology Group in the Department of Geology at UHM, I was instructor for Physical Geography and GIS in the Department of Geography at UHM. I was then instructor for several GIS and remote sensing classes in the Department of Geosciences at FAU. I am now funded to conduct research in the coastal Everglades, and I teach Environmental Art at Manatee Lagoon.
